Firozuddin Ahmed Faridi was a member of Pakistan’s premier civil service, “C.S.P.”, for 35 years from 1963 to 1998, and is a life member of the “Harvard Alumni Association” U.S.A., for the last 40 years, since 1977.

He was born at Delhi in 1937, and retired as the senior-most Additional Secretary to the Government of Pakistan in 1998. His public service was officially recognised and eulogised by Pakistan’s Federal Cabinet and two Presidents of Pakistan. After retirement, he was chosen as a member of the prestigious Public Accounts Committee, Sindh, in 2001 and 2002.

 

He received higher education in leading American, British, and Pakistani universities. He holds four post-graduate degrees which include M.P.A. from Harvard University, M.Sc in Defence & Strategic Studies from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad, M.A. in Economics and LL.B. from Karachi University, besides Diploma in Social Policy & Administration from Swansea University, U.K.

 

His columns and articles, hundreds in numbers, have appeared in almost all the leading English and Urdu national newspapers of Pakistan, as also in foreign dailies, e.g., Indian Express, New Delhi.

 

He is the author of seven books in English and Urdu, whose reprints have appeared many times. His last well-researched book, published in 2013, is on “the last (14) days of the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)”, which is based on the earliest authentic sources of Islamic history.

 

فیروزالدین احمد فریدی 29 اکتوبر 1937ء (23 شعبان 1356ھ) کو دلّی میں پیدا ہوئے۔ کراچی یونیورسٹی سے بی کام، ایم اے (معاشیات) اور ایل ایل بی، ہارورڈ یونیورسٹی سے ایم پی اے اور قائدِاعظم یونیورسٹی اسلام آباد سے ایم ایس سی کیا۔ 1962ء میں سول سروس میں آئے اور اکتوبر 1998ء میں وفاقی حکومت کے سب سے سینیئر ایڈیشنل سیکریٹری کی حیثیت سے ریٹائر ہوئے۔ ان کے اُردو اور انگریزی مضامین پچھلی نصف صدی سے پاکستان کے ممتاز روزناموں اور جریدوں میں شائع ہوتے رہے ہیں۔ وہ اُردو کی چھ اور انگریزی کی ایک کتاب کے مصنف ہیں۔
